Moder is one of the many bosses you can fight against in Valheim. She is a dragon and she resides in the mountain biome. The mountain biome is particularly difficult because you have to find a way to support frost damage, but several methods are used. Once you can withstand the winter cold, locating Moder is the next step and defeating her.
How to find Moder
Just like the other bosses in Valheim, you need to find a runestone that indicates its exact location. We were able to find them in some of the ruined buildings that are tucked away in these biomes. You’ll want to explore these places, and you can expect to find plenty of skeletons protecting them. But these enemies are pretty easy to defeat at this point in the game.
How to summon Moder
The item you need to find to summon Moder is dragon eggs. These are different from other summon items you’ve already found for other bosses as they each weigh 200 pounds. You’ll want to make sure you get the Megingjord belt from the trader to increase your transport weight by 150. From what we can tell, you can find the dragon eggs nearby where you summon Moder, so you shouldn’t have to transport them to your world to bring it. in position, but you can always store them in your property to summon Moder multiple times. You need three dragon eggs.
How to beat Moder
When you have placed the three dragon eggs on the altar, you freely summon Moder. She is not summoned when all three eggs are placed. You can lay them down to get back to it when you return with the appropriate gear and your party to knock it down. Interact with the altar in the center, then summon Moder.
You might have guessed that Moder is a dragon, a wyvern, in particular. She begins the encounter in midair and flies around the immediate area where you are fighting. We fought her on top of the mountain and had to beware of falling over the edge. You can also expect the other frost drakes to appear and witness the fight. Moder will launch ice blasts like her smaller drake counterparts, but she becomes crystals that will eventually explode, so you need to stay away from it. His ranged freeze attacks are his deadliest attack. You want to stay out of the way as much as possible and you want to have a large supply of arrows to keep shooting at him.
Moder can also land and glide off the ground. Her sweep attacks did extremely low damage when we fought her in full wolf and iron armor. While on the ground, we recommend assaulting her and attacking her a bit to do as much damage as possible with your melee weapon. Moder will also use a Frost Breath attack in this form.
Throughout the battle, Moder alternates between being on the ground and flying through the air. Of the two, having him on the ground is much better for you due to the little damage his claw hits do.
After defeating Moder, you will receive his trophy by going to the Summoning Circle, and you will also get the Dragon’s Tear Item to create various new crafting stations.
